Let's Talk Careers

Let’s Talk Careers sessions help families and communities to support youth in making informed career choices. This program is intended to open and support career dialogue, build connections and increase the sharing of information and resources among youth, families and their communities. 

Nova Scotia Works School Liaison (NSWSL)

Nova Scotia Works School Liaisons (NSWSL) provide students and families support with:

  • access to and understanding of Labour Market Information
  • access to potential employment opportunities for youth
  • delivery of workshops and sessions (one-on-one or group sessions), related to career planning and labour market information, both virtually and in-person
  • delivery of workshops and sessions for schools, community groups, families, workplaces and other both at the school and in the community

There's no shortage of information to help youth and families learn about career planning, occupations, education/training and the labour market. The following resources may be helpful to get started.

myBlueprint: This is an excellent resource available to all public high school students and families to support career development and helps students make informed decisions about career pathways. 

Nova Scotia Works Online: This website is a great place to start! Find information on career planning, labour market information and more! 

Careers Atlantic Canada: This site provides resources for students, families, and schools related to Skills for Success and Labour Market Information. 

Canadian Government Career Planning: This resource includes career quizzes, job profiles, local and national labour market information, and tools to find out about career trends.
